Inspiration & Motivation: Lockdown āGone Bananasā
Lockdown for many has been an experience of repetitive days, isolation, and a variety of emotions. To cope or pass the extra time, people have been learning new hobbies, in particular, baking. On social media, a lot of people have been making banana bread. It has become a bit of a āthingā.
Personally, I have struggled with the monotony of lockdown days and have comforted myself with food. Food has become the highlight of my lockdown days, and with an abundance of bananas in the house, I too have made several loaves of banana bread. It developed into a constant craving and I would say I have āgone bananasā for banana bread!

Image 2 (portrait): A few weeks into lockdown. Not quite feeling myself, comfort eating begins. All I want is banana bread. All I can see on social media are people showing off their banana bread! I too must have banana bread!

Conclusion: Usually, I donāt particularly like bananas. ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
My background is in creative arts and design in the public sector. I worked in London for several years in marketing and communication roles at University of the Arts, London before joining Teesside University in 2015.
As a naturally visual person, I have a keen interest in visual communication and I am always on the lookout for innovative ideas to create and enhance content to widen audiences and increase engagement.
I have loved film from a very young in, in particular, film noir. The combination of the cynical hero, the simplicity of black & white film and ethereal atmosphere provide a complete escape for me as a viewer.
As a content creator, I aim to use simple yet compelling visuals to tell a story, a message, or evoke an emotion. I am interested in the idea of using artists I love as an inspiration, those who use simple yet compelling content, Mark Rothko, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Mickalene Thomas.
My aspirations from this course are to develop a way of using the kind of visuals I am drawn to as an individual in a more professional and commercial context.
