A former Teesside University student has set up her own African hairdressers after struggling to find places that could style her own hair.Hiba Sharfi a 28 years old social media influencer who has more than 48.8 thousand followers on Instagram, started working in the beauty industry in 2015 as a part-time job during her time at Teesside University. But she always struggling to find a hairdresser that was an expert in African hairstyles.
So, after graduating from her Master’s degree, Hiba started her own business Hibana which is on Linthorpe Road in Middlesbrough.  She said: âI had one of my teachers who has curly hair we both thought that it was hard to find a good place where they can deal appropriately with our curly hair.”
“Iâm a business owner and CEO manager of Hibana beauty, a hairdresser that can serve all hair types and specialised in curly/Afro hair.”
Hiba is also works as a social media influencer and feels this helps with her growing business.Hiba said: âIt connects highly, I think people do buy from people so itâs always good to be both so you can allow potential customers to get to know you and your brand. â
âHowever, sometimes you donât feel like being on social media but itâs always a running compilation and you have to keep up and continue to create content. It also makes the person, especially women influencers unsecured by all the social media beauty standards.â Hibana hair salon offers haircuts, permanent straightening, braids, perms, hair colouring, and facial work such as eyelashes, and eyebrows, besides that face and body wax.
