Student Elections at Teesside University: Nominations open for aspiring candidates

By Melissa Wade

The excitement is building on campus as nominations for the upcoming university student elections officially opened this week.

These elections decide the three people who hold the Student Officer positions (President Education, President Wellbeing, and President International) each year.

This is a thrilling opportunity for students to become candidates for key positions within the student body, which plays a vital role in representing the interests and concerns of the university students.

The positions involve leading the Student’s Union, overseeing how it is run, working full-time – and it comes with an attractive salary of over £25,000 a year.

You do not need any particular experience to be a successful candidate, and they are open to all eligible TU students.

Current President Wellbeing, Blessing, said: “Right from originally running as candidates through to our time in office to date, we’ve had an amazing experience and gained so much while helping others!

“We hope lots of students from many different backgrounds consider entering the election.”

If you have any questions regarding the nomination process, you can check out a more detailed description of the roles at tees-su.org.uk/elections. Or if you are interested in running as a candidate, you can email elections@tees-su.org.uk to submit your application.
