Dublin delight for Gerwyn Price as he wins night three of the Darts Premier League

Gerwyn Price walked out victor of night three in the Premier League in front of a bumper crowd in Dublin. Price beat Luke Littler, Luke Humphries and Nathan Aspinall to claim the win.
Luke Humphries 6-4 Stephen Bunting
The first match of the night saw Luke Humphries goes up against Stephen Bunting in their first Premier League meeting, with top playing bottom.
As the crowd were belting out Titanium by Sia, the game got under way as Luke Humphries took the first leg, breaking the Bunting throw.
Bunting hit back with a 14-darter as he instantly broke back to level the game.
In leg three Bunting missed two chances to take the leg, which led to an instant break back from Humphries.
Both players were sitting on 32 in leg six as Bunting teed it up with a beautiful 150.  However, Cool Hand took it out in one dart which changed the demeanour of Bunting as he looked a bit sombre after going down 4-2.
Bunting managed to hit back and get the score to 5-4 as Humphries missed a chance to take out 84.
In the final leg Bunting failed to put any real pressure on Humphries as he was on 107. Humphries finished the match leaving Bunting on zero points, remaining bottom of the table.
However, this was Bunting’s best performance yet as he averaged over 100 and will look to pick up his first win in Exeter next week.
Gerwyn Price 6-4 Luke Littler
The second game of the night saw the ‘Iceman’ Gerwyn Price take on the World Champion Luke Littler. The first ‘BOOYAH’ of the night came in the second leg as Price hit the double ten to level up the game.
It seemed to throw Littler off his game as he threw a couple of stray darts in the next leg which saw Price take the leg, even though he missed three darts at double 12.Price raced into a 4-1, but in the sixth leg the teenager hit the double 12 in his checkout, but it still left him a double, which he took out after a readjustment. Price was really fired up with the Dublin crowd behind him. He pinned 78 to take the match and record a fifth consecutive victory over Littler.
Rob Cross 3-6 Nathan Aspinall
Game three saw Rob Cross come up against Nathan Aspinall who had yet to score a point in the Premier League.
In the first leg Cross hadn’t adjusted to the game as his finishing was poor, missing five darts to take the first leg with Aspinall punishing him to go 1-0 up. Aspinall took a 3-0 lead as he took out 92 to put himself in the driving seat. Aspinall went into a 5-1 lead as he hit double 16 and looked long gone.
Cross’s finishing deserted him in the final leg as he missed four darts for the leg, but Aspinall extended his winning run in the Premier League against Cross to six games.
Michael Van Gerwen 6-4 Chris Dobey
Dobey came into the game after winning a Players Championship midweek, meanwhile Van Gerwen was coming off playing one game in the week after falling short against Irish amateur Michael Flynn. The last quarter final of the night was set up for the winner to play Nathan Aspinall. Wearing his classic green, MVG was looking to harness the luck of the Irish in his performance.
The first three legs went with the throw, but Dobey was struggling to get his scoring going at the start of the match, while MVG was starting to fire. The first break came from The Green Machine as he pinned a 121 and let out a mighty roar. He then started the next leg with a 180 and a couple of 140s and soon found himself 4-1 up.
Dobey then hit back with a big 154 finish to get himself back in the game showing Van Gerwen he was no pushover.
In the seventh leg Dobey missed two darts to take the leg which Van Gerwen pounced on to clean up 56 and go 5-2 up. In leg eight Dobey found himself on 41 after nine darts to put him in control of the leg.  He missed six darts to take the leg but eventually won on double two to make the score 5-3.
Van Gerwen missed a match dart at double 11 which Dobey had pressured by hitting a 180 and he snuck in to pin double 12 to continue his fightback. MVG finished the game with a bull finish as he took out 90 to book his place against Nathan Aspinall. Dobey will have been full of disappointment as he hit five 180s but only hit a quarter of his doubles.
Luke Humphries 3-6 Gerwyn Price
The first semi-final saw Luke Humphries come up against Gerwyn Price in a rematch of last week’s first semi-final. The first leg resulted in a hold of throw for Luke Humphries who looked to extend his lead at the top of the table. In the next leg Humphries nearly landed the big fish, but Price was back on 160 which he couldn’t finish, and Humphries took the leg to break throw.
In leg three Price found himself on the 170 and he did what his opponent couldn’t do in the previous leg and pinned the bullseye to send the Dublin crowd into raptures singing the Welshman’s name. A big Shanghai finish came in the fifth leg from Price as he pinned double top to maintain a 100% finishing rate on the doubles in the game.
The crowd were on Price’s side all game cheering every big score and finish for him. The first bit of emotion in the game came from Price as he finished 88 on a double seven letting out a big ‘BOOYAH’. In the last leg Price had six darts at 126 with Humphries back in 188 but he finished the game on double 12 as he secured a 6-3 victory over the world number one.
Nathan Aspinall 6-3 Michael Van Gerwen
Chants of ‘Oh Michael Van Gerwen’ rang around the arena pre match as he looked to make his first final of the 2025 Premier League campaign. Both players found themselves on finishes after nine darts and it was Aspinall who broke throw as he found the bull to checkout 81.
Aspinall doubled his lead as he held his throw to put Van Gerwen under some pressure. MVG took the third leg from Aspinall as the Asp narrowly missed the bull for the second big fish of the night. Aspinall missed a chance to go 5-1 up as he missed two darts at double 18 as MVG pinned double ten to get a leg back.
The big scores seemed to be evading Van Gerwen as Aspinall kept hitting 140s and 180s with these scores helping him go 5-2 up with the darts in hand going into leg eight. In leg eight Van Gerwen hit his first 180 of the matches and he stole the leg as Aspinall missed two match darts to carry the game on. Nathan Aspinall booked his spot in the final with a 52-finish putting him against Gerwyn Price. Meanwhile for MVG the semi-finals seem to be his kryptonite.
Gerwyn Price 6-3 Nathan Aspinall
The final in Dublin saw two players who fans didn’t think should’ve been in the Premier League fighting for the win of the night. Aspinall came straight out the blocks hitting a 140 and 180 to take leg one. Price hit straight back with an 11-darter. Some stray darts came into play in leg three, but Price took out another Shanghai to break the Aspinall throw and go 2-1 up.
The Asp broke back straight away after Price missed three darts to take the leg. Aspinall found his rhythm and kept finding his darts landing in the treble 20 with constant maximums being found. However, a poor 42 led to Price taking it to 3-3 and letting out a roar of emotion.
After breaking the Aspinall throw in leg seven Price looked to push on leaving 143 after nine darts to set up winning the leg and moving one away from victory. The last ‘BOOYAH’ of the night came as Price pinned double tops to secure the win on Night three in Dublin, as he climbed above Luke Littler in the table.
