Darlo Boxer competes in America for the first time

Darlo’s own Troy Williamson fights tomorrow night on the main card of Top Rank Boxing’s Las Vegas show as he takes on American fighter Jahi Tucker.

This will be the first time that Williamson, 33, has fought outside of the United Kingdom in his 24-fight career.

Speaking from Las Vegas, Troy told TUXtra: “I feel great. I’m in a good place mentally and physically.”

The Darlington-born fighter has had an impressive career so far. He is a former IBF European super-welterweight champion as well as a former British super welterweight champion after finishing English fighter Ted Cheeseman in the 10th round in 2021.

Williamson makes his debut at middleweight(160 lbs) in this fight against 22-year-old Tucker after moving up from super-welterweight(154 lbs) after two losses against two very strong fighters in Ishmael Davis and Caoimhin Agyarko in two tough decisions.

On representing his hometown, Williamson said: “I’m a Darlington lad born & bred so representing my hometown is something to be proud of.”

The fight takes place on Saturday, 5 April, and the card starts at 10.30 pm (UK time) with Williamson’s fight expected to take place at 11.30pm.
