BSc Computing (Top Up Year from FdSc in Computing Networking)
Biography
I am a self motivated, hard working person who always works to the best of my ability and is always willing to learn and understand new things in order to hone my skills and gain more experience. I have had a great interest in computing since my first ICT lessons at Primary School and since then, my interest in the subject has only grown and grown until I decided to study it at University, focussing on Computing Networking but also broadening my horizons in IT Law and Information Governance which I am also passionate about. I do however also have experience in web development and database design which were honed in my work experiences throughout college and university.
Employment, Work Experience & Volunteering
Willow Road Community Centre Darlington
Work Experience
27/11/17 – 09/05/19
This work experience was carried out as part of my Work Based Learning module in my Foundation Degree. During this time, I helped to develop, update and maintain the existing website for Willow Road Community Centre. This is a role I continue to assist the centre with as and when I can today.
EE Darlington
Work Experience
20/02/17 – 24/02/17
This work experience was undertaken as part of BTEC Level 3 course. During my week long work experience at EE, I created an advanced database for employees to input client data. This was then linked to an Excel document that stored said data once the database transaction was completed. This data base is still being used within EE.
Head of Steam Museum, Darlington
Work Experience
24/02/16 – 23/03/16
This work experience was part of BTEC Level 3 course. My responsibilities in the short time at the Head of Steam included creating children’s activities on the PC, inputting personal details of ‘Friends of the Head of Steam’ for newsletters and invitations to upcoming events, cleaning areas of the museum and ensuring children’s areas of play were clean, tidy and safe. This occurred every Wednesday for a five week period.
Spennymoor Town Football Club
Volunteer Match day Steward
08/07/15 – Present
My duties at the football club include overseeing match day operations at every home game, liaising with fellow stewards to ensure supporters are safe and help to rectify any issues that may arise.
Spennymoor Town Football Club
Volunteer Press Liaison / Raffle Ticket & Programme Sales
08/07/15 – 08/07/17
My responsibilities at Spennymoor Football Club included selling raffle tickets and/or match day programmes before every home game, taking notes of the action that occurred during the game and then contacting the Sunday Sun Sports Desk after the game to inform them of the full time score and what happened during the game. On occasions, I also wrote a brief match report of the game and read said report on BBC Tees Radio.
Interests
As well as computing and when not studying, I am an avid Spennymoor Town FC fan where I volunteer as a matchday steward at home games and follow the club to every away game up and down the country. I also like to play video games, watch professional wrestling and going to the pub with my mates
