Billingham Synthonia FC Reserves: Bringing Young Talent Back To Billingham

The Billingham Synthonia FC Reserves team are under new management and have announced the recruitment for the upcoming 25-26 season.

They are on the hunt for enthusiastic players aged 16-19 to come on board and contribute to a dynamic team environment. Those behind the team say this is a fantastic opportunity for young talent to develop their skills, gain valuable experience, and be part of a supportive football community and make their mark in the world of football.

To kick off the recruitment process, open sessions will be held throughout April. These sessions are designed to provide interested players with a platform to showcase their abilities in front of the coaching staff.

During the open sessions, participants will engage in various drills allowing the coaches to assess players skills, teamwork, potential fit within the team, players who demonstrate a positive attitude, commitment, and a willingness to learn.

Each session will be a welcoming environment where players can not only display their skills but also learn more about the clubs’ values and aspirations.

The new reserves team are preparing for the upcoming season and are excited about the potential to build a strong reserves team that can support the first team and foster the next generation of football talent.

Commitment to training and teamwork will be essential, the team are dedicated to providing a supportive atmosphere where players can thrive.

Thomas Lea, Manager of Billingham Synthonia Reserves team, said: “As manager, one of the main attributes I am looking for within the younger players is that desire and inner determination to succeed.”

The reserves team will train at Bede, Billingham, which will become the reserves home. The team is also offering FA standard training sessions, a clear pathway into Northern League football, free physiotherapy, individual goalkeeper coaching, weekly analysis sessions with all games and sessions recorded, weekly strength and conditioning sessions, GPS trackers used during training and games and dual registration with the first team in the Northern League.

Mr Lea went on to explain what players can expect during the open sessions: “The players will be exposed to some more traditional drills as this will be able to provide myself with information on whether the players can do the basics correctly and to a high standard, my coaching team will also deliver high standard drills to assess players tactical understanding to make sure players can not only understand the drill but to execute it to their best standard. But most importantly we pride ourselves on creating an enjoyable environment.

“All interested players are expected to be committed to training and any sessions that we put on, as well as being available for match days, we understand that players will have other commitments, but as a general we ask for everyone to be available as often as they can. This helps us deliver high quality sessions and lets us plan for our game on a Saturday afternoon.”

Mr Lea encouraged players to get involved. He added: “There are so many benefits of joining the reserves at Billingham Synthonia, the main one in my opinion is that this team and set up is the closest thing to an academy set up at this level. We are confident in saying that is because we are providing players with access to GPS vests during training and match days as well as analysis cameras, allowing us to deliver analysis sessions to players which will further aid their development.

“Success for me is watching the players develop, all reserve team players will be dual signed with our first team who play in the Northern League. There are many opportunities for players to move up.”
