March has become an important month in the National League North for many of the teams fighting for a playoff space.
One team that have a huge month is Darlington. The Quakers have nine games in the month of March with a strong month potentially giving them something to play for at the end of the season.
Darlo’s month started with a 4-2 loss to 2nd place Brackley Town. The Quakers started the game strongly, leading 2-1 in the first half, but a poor second half saw Brackley take the points home with them.
Tuesday March 4 is a crucial night for The Quakers as they go on the road to local rivals Spennymoor with both teams in the race for a spot in the playoffs.
The teams find themselves 11th and 12th respectively with Darlo only nine points off the playoffs with games in hand and Spennymoor 12 points off playoffs with games in hand.
Following the Spennymoor game, The Quakers will play high-flying Hereford away from home and then follow that with another Tuesday night game against Radcliffe.
Later in the month, Darlo have another important game for the playoff race as they travel to play Peterborough Sports who find themselves 10th place currently.
Each game will be massive for The Quakers this month as wins will help keep them pushing for the playoffs and help close the gap between them and the teams in the playoff spots currently.
The Quakers end the month with some tough games with a fixture against always physical Alfreton Town and playoff contenders Chorley as well as games against two teams struggling in the relegation zone in Rushall Olympic and Warrington Town.
The month of March feels like the month that decides what type of season Darlington are having. A strong month, with big wins against big teams, brings the chance of playoff football, but a poor month means their season will effectively be over.
