School of Arts and Creative Industries Senior Lecturer in Graphic design Amy Dover’s recent book Drawings From A Disappearing World contains drawings of “endlings” animals which were the last of their species, and the stories of how they disappeared forever.
Amy Dover’s work focuses on the relationships and perceptions of humans with non-human animals. Through highly detailed graphite drawings she toys with allegorical narratives and surreal moments to challenge the viewers perceptions or the creatures within them. She has recently been developing research and work around the human impact on endangered species and the 6th mass extinction, and hopes to raise this as of critical international concern.
Next month Amy is heading off to the remote Panamanian jungle to live with an indigenous tribe, take part in nature conservation and make more great art! Have a wonderful time and stay safe Amy. Looking forward to seeing all your drawings when you return.
