Valentine’s Day is here and as usual it has split opinion. As the Student Union prepares for its Valentine’s Movie Night, we spoke to the people on the Teesside University campus to ask them if they thought Valentine’s Day is overhyped.
Meg, 18, student said: “Relationships aren’t the end all and be all in life. We should celebrate out friendships and other relationships not just romantic ones.”
Cali, 21, student, said: “Valentines Day feels like a manufactured and commercialised holiday.”
Whereas Elizabeth, 21, student, said: “You should express your love everyday not just on one specific day. It’s nice to have a day just for showing appreciation to your loved one.”
If you have no plans or want to do Valentine’s Day on a budget the Students Union is hosting a screening of Forever My Girl (2018) at 5.30pm tonight at the Terrace.
This heart-warming story of a successful country music singer who returns to his hometown after several years and reconnects with his high school sweetheart whom he ditched at the altar can be enjoyed alongside this week’s special.
This week’s specials include a Cranberry Kiss cocktail which is available as a glass or pitcher. This speciality cocktail is a mixture of Southern Comfort and Corky’s Raspberry with all things red to keep it in the Valentine’s Day spirit.
If you are hungry, there is a two for £11 on Mac’N’Cheese, chicken curry, veg chilli and beef chilli to keep you and your loved one full and satisfied on a budget.
