Teesside University has launched a free safety app called ‘’SAFEZONE’’ bringing its students and staff a quick way to connect with the university’s security team at any point in time on campus when needing help.
The University joined hundreds of other universities to set up a safety app to ensure 24/7 hours of safety on its campus and nearby places around the university.
Safezone is a safety application just as the name implies and is designed to help students reach out to the following categories at any point in time on campus.
First aid – Which is for medical assistance.
Emergency – When in need of urgent assistance or feeling threatened.
Check in – Providing your present location to the university security team for the purpose of your safety.
Notifications – If there is an incident on campus that requires you to take action.
Privacy – Your location stays private unless you request assistance or check in.
Below is a video interview with Imelda, an international student from Nigeria, talking about her experience of SAFEZONE.
Your safety as an international student matters to the university so make it a point of duty to have ”Safezone” on your phone.
