Radio station Click Teesside is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a special 48 hour charity broadcast.
Click Teesside is the official Teesside University radio station, with presenters and production staff all drawn from current students.
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Click Teesside has kicked off a 48 hour charity broadcast to raise money for the MFC Foundation.
The live broadcast got underway at 9.00am on Thursday 25 January and will run right through until 9.00am on Saturday 27 January. It will feature live music with Natasha Graham, Oliver Sharp and Afnan Prince, interviews with Middlesbrough FC’s George Friend and Stewart Downing, as well as live challenges, returning alumni and prizes.
All proceeds raised from the event will go to the MFC Foundation, which helps support the local community through its four themes of social inclusion, sports participation, education and health.
Andy Munns, Event Manager for Click Teesside, said: ‘The broadcast is a fitting celebration of Click’s history and its future and we are pleased to also be raising funds and awareness for the MFC Foundation which does great work in our local area.’
Click Teesside, which broadcasts from Aurora House, has won a number of national accolades, including a Bronze and Silver Award in the BBC Radio1 National Radio Awards for its station sound and quality of programming. The station has also taken part in several successful charity events during its ten-year tenure.
We hope to be broadcasting for many more years to come and will continue to provide a platform for students who have a passion for radio
Its programmes are aimed at students and staff and focus on campus life, local events and music. It offers students the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of radio roles including presenting, production and research.
Dominic Dunn is Technical Manager in Teesside University’s School of Computing, Media & the Arts and helped to launch Click Teesside back in 2008.
He said: ‘We are absolutely delighted to be celebrating our tenth anniversary. Over the years Click Teesside has gone from strength to strength and has provided students from a wide range of courses the opportunity to gain practical, real life radio experience – many have gone on to work in the industry after graduating.
