MIND GAMES UK – OLLY BURDETT

Project Description: https://mmj.tees.ac.uk/~fjp13/

My project looks at the relationship between sport and mental health. This project was inspired by my own personal struggle with mental health, a period that was helped massively by the escapism offered by sport. .Mind Games UK is a site that showcases a range of different activities to show the benefits of sport and physical activity on mental wellbeing. The site also shares stories from those who have suffered heavily, but have managed to pick themselves back up through the use of sport.

MFC FOUNDATION USING FOOTBALL TO TACKLE MENTAL HEALTH –

Established in 1995 by Steve Gibson, the MFC Foundation is the charitable arm of Middlesbrough Football Club.

The foundation aims to raise the aspirations and improve the lives of those within the local community.

The organisation’s ‘Think With Your Feet’ mental health sessions offer those struggling a place of comfort.

Participants can forget about their problems through playing football and by using the sport as a tool for therapy.

In partnership with Mind, the sessions first launched in 2015 and have become incredibly popular with around thirty people attending each week.
