It’s another week in the Premier League and Matchday 29 has some important games. The weekend also sees the Carabao Cup Final between Liverpool and Newcastle. TUXtra’s Max O’Hara gives you this week’s look ahead.
Bournemouth v Brentford: 5.30pm Saturday, Sky Sports Main Event
An exciting midtable clash with Bournemouth welcoming Brentford to the Vitality Stadium.
Bournemouth have shocked the league this season currently finding themselves 9th in the league with The Cherries finding their best form since Andoni Iraola became manager.
Their previous game was a 2-2 draw against Spurs in which goals from Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson helped earn a valuable point away from home.
Brentford have consistently been a well-coached squad since being promoted to the Premier League and with Thomas Frank as manager they will always give a good game to whoever they come up against.
This should be an intense game between two well-coached sides but TUXtra’s prediction for the game is a 2-1 win for Bournemouth.
Arsenal v Chelsea: 1.30pm Sunday, Sky Sports Main Event
The biggest Premier League game of the weekend has 2nd place Arsenal welcoming local London rivals Chelsea, who are currently 4th place.
Arsenal have hit a bit of a blip in the league recently with no win in three and they are 15 points behind Liverpool with one game in hand. They come into the game after beating PSV over two legs in the Champions League round of 16.
Chelsea have had a solid month of March so far with three wins, with two in the Europa Conference League over FC Copenhagen in the Round of 16 and a win against Leicester City.
This fixture always tends to be intense game with some of the recent matches being high-scoring affairs but TUXtra’s prediction for the game is 1-1 draw.
Liverpool v Newcastle: 4.30pm Sunday,
A bit of a special game in this look-ahead is the Carabao Cup final as Liverpool and Newcastle face off at Wembley.
Liverpool come into the final after going out of the Champions League Round of 16 against Paris Saint Germain and will want to fire back and defend their Carabao Cup that they won last season.
Newcastle come into this final looking for their first major domestic trophy since winning the FA Cup in 1955.
The Magpies enter the final after a win last time out in the league against West Ham, where a Bruno Guimarães goal secured three points.
Liverpool will be considered favourites but when the Geordies are on form they can turn any team over – and with the backing of the fans they can perform to a much higher level.
This should be a great final but TUXtra’s prediction for the game is a 3-1 Liverpool win.
Leicester City v Manchester United: 7pm Sunday, Sky Sports Main Event
The final game of this weekend has Leicester City welcoming Manchester United to the King Power Stadium as both clubs meet for the fourth time this season.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s Leicester find themselves 19th in the league and haven’t won since the 26th of January when Jamie Vardy and Bilal El Khannouss earned three points against Tottenham.
United come into this game after a successful Round of 16 in the Europa League, beating Real Sociedad 5-2 over two legs where the second leg had some of The Red Devils’ best football all season.
A hattrick from captain Bruno Fernandes and a goal from Diogo Dalot helped United to a 4-1 victory at Old Trafford in the second leg and helped make it to the next round of the Europa League.
This should be a game where United build on their previous performance and if they can match their second-half performance then this should be a good game for them but its hard to trust them to stay consistent.
TUXtra’s prediction for the game is 2-0 Manchester United.
