You can’t tell how someone feels just by looking at them or by what they share online. To the outside world peoples lives may look perfect when in reality they aren’t.
One in four people in the world are affected by mental or neurological disorders at some point in their lives.
I have explored how having a poor mental health affects individuals and have interviewed Paul Waugh, who was a former Coastguard in the area. Paul created stones with quotes and helplines for hurting individuals and placed them all along Huntcliff Cliffs in Saltburn with the hope to prevent people committing suicide.
This short film also explores how the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown has affected University students with a first hand account from Alfie Lambert, who is a second year Sports Journalism student here at Teesside University.
If you are struggling with your mental health in anyway and attend Teesside University please email studentlife@tees.ac.uk for counselling or someone to talk to.
