Women’s Street Watch is a support group which gathers every weekend to safe guard women who are alone at night in Middlesbrough and potentially at risk.
The group’s goal is to make Middlesbrough town a safer and better place against spiking and violence.

Bethany McLean, director of the group, said: “The three main aims are to reduce the strain on emergency services by providing minor first aid and items such as water and flip-flops, provide training and qualifications, and prevent sexual violence and harassment against women and girls in a supportive capacity and as a deterrent for potential offenders.
“We are looking for people with resilience, social awareness and friendliness who are able to work in a team. We want people who are non-judgemental and have great communication skills, as you will be helping vulnerable people, an updated DBS is also needed to volunteer for patrolling.”
If you are interested in this concept, they are always looking for new volunteers – you can be part of the team that patrols on weekends from 10pm to 2am. Anyone is able to help with fundraising, social media and graphic design.
