Who will be the next Boro boss?

As Middlesbrough’s search for a new manager continues Tuxtra spoke to football report Phil Spencer on the club’s options.

With Chris Wilder leaving Middlesbrough after 11 months in charge, Steve Gibson is stillĀ  searching for his replacemen.

Early reports suggested that Micheal Carrick andĀ  Rob Edwards were in pole position for the job but with no advancements made for either of them, Boro fans are stillĀ  wonder who will replace Chris Wilder.

With Leo Percovich teporarily in charge , Boro fans are looking for a permanent and assured manager who can bring stability, not only to the team but to the club.

Phil Spencer, who is a Journalist and Middlesbrough supporter,Ā  thinks the club has to get the next appoint right.

He said: “Middlesbrough’s next managerial appointment is absolutely key and so it’s essential that the club get the right person for the job and for the structure of the club.”

“With Kieran Scott in place, Middlesbrough will need a head coach rather than a managerĀ  and after the struggles with Chris Wilder’s appointment, I think that a young, ambitious coach would be best-suited for the role.

“The likes of Lee Cattermole have been linked, but I would be tempted to go for Rob Edwards. Edwards is very much on the upward curve and after shining for forest Green Rovers he gained a taste for life in the championship with Watford.

“Edwards will have a real point to prove at this level and with the added bonus of playing attractive, attacking football. I think that he could be the right coach at the right time as he looks to grow and develop in unison with Middlesbrough.”

Rob Edwards was sacked by Watford only after 11 games in charge of the Hornets, he also guided Forest Green Rovers to promotion as League Two champions in the 2021-2022 season.

Middlesbrough have also been interested in Coventry boss Mark Robins but were deterred by the compensation fee that would needed to release him from his contract. Mark Robins has been at Covenrty since 2017, getting the Sky blues promoted as League One champions in the 2019-2020 season.

An outside shout for the job is Hannes Wolf who has managed Stuttgart and Hamburger SV in Germany. His latest managerial venture was as the interim coach of Bayer Leverkusen in 2021.
